In the central paragraph Diagrams the Peircean semiotics will be presented.
In a strict sense the contribution of this publication to semiotics is very limited. Everybody who read the dissertation of Hans van Driel "De semiosis", will notice that at its best the borders of his first chapter
"De semiosis 'in potentia'" are probed. At the same time however these persons will notice that the diagrammatic representation, that is made possible by using Axon, requires less mental administration than a presentation on paper and that it strengthens the tensile force of the mind.
This does not mean that the work presented here is just a translation of Hans van Driels dissertation. Knowing his work and starting with the word sign the InteLex database of the Collected Papers has been searched. The results were pasted into the Axon text-object 'sign'. For relevant terms new text-objects were created and new searches executed and so on until the structure emerged that is almost identical to the structure presented by Hans van Driel in a more fragmentary manner.
Publishing this source file would mean a violation of copyrights. That is the reason why a popularised version is published here. In Background I sketch the perspective from which the popularisation is executed.
In Follow-up some thought is spend on ways in which the Peircean semiotics may be advanced.
